St. Lucie 8, Clearwater 9

A BRUTAL loss for the Mets tonight, they'd built an 8-2 lead after 6.5 innings, only to watch Clearwater score 1 in the bottom of the 7th, 2 in the 8th, and then a backbreaking 4 in the 9th, the last one scoring on a Ruben Tejada error, his 21st of the season.

The bullpen blowup prevented Nick Carr from getting his first win of the season. Carr was decent tonight, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs in 5 innings, striking out 5 (including the side in the first). Casey Hoorelbeke allowed a run in his 2 innings, Edgar Alfonzo allowed 2 in his inning, and then Tim Stronach allowed the final 4, taking the loss.

Every regular in the lineup except Leivi Ventura (0 for 4, run, .224) had a hit, and 4 had multi hit games, including Ruben Tejada, who has had multiple hits in his last 3 games, and over his last 4 games, is 8 for 15 with 3 runs scored, 2 2b, 2 RBI.

Savannah 5, Columbus 0

Another start, another great one for Angel Calero, who lowered his ERA to 2.56 with 7 more shutout innings. Steven Cheney finished off the masterpiece with 2 perfect innings for his first save. The story was Calero, though, who only walked 1, while striking out 3, and picked up his 3rd win of the season.

The offense was led by Jacob Elgsti with 2 hits out of the 9 hole, and Matt Bouchard, 2 hits out of the leadoff spot. Jordan Abruzzo also had a multi hit game hitting cleanup, while Casey Craig (0 for 3, 2 BBs, .333), Jose Jimenez (0 for 4, K, .243), and Carlos Guzman (0 for 4, K, .200) took 0-fers.
